Workshop Preparation Packet

This could include:

  • Complete supply list

  • Sewing-machine readiness checklist

  • Fabric and thread recommendations

  • What to prepare before the first live session

  • Printable weekly schedule

This helps participants arrive prepared, but because these materials are necessary for the workshop, I would call them included resources, not bonuses.

Post-Workshop Coffee & Questions Session

After Friday’s final workshop session, you’ll have the weekend to finish your tote, review the recordings, and write down any questions that come up.

Then join me live on Monday for a relaxed Coffee & Questions session where we can:

  • Troubleshoot anything that gave you difficulty

  • Clarify a step or technique you didn’t fully understand

  • Celebrate your completed project and progress

  • Talk about what to sew and learn next

You won’t finish the workshop on Friday and suddenly be left to figure everything out alone. We’ll reconnect on Monday to answer questions and help you move forward.

Limited-Time Replay Access

Life doesn’t always follow the schedule. Recordings of each live workshop session will remain available through the following Friday, giving you one additional week to:

  • Revisit a demonstration you want to see again

  • Pause and review a step at your own pace

  • Catch up if life interrupts one of the live sessions

  • Prepare questions for the post-workshop question session

The workshop is designed to be experienced live. Replay access gives you additional time to review, practice, and reinforce what you learned before the recordings expire.

Note: Replays access ends 7 days after the last day of the workshop.

Beginner Sewing Reference Collection

You won’t have to rely on memory once the live workshop ends. You’ll receive a focused collection of printable sewing references to use during the workshop and keep nearby whenever you sew.

If you’ve read this far, you’re probably looking for more than another sewing video that simply shows you what to do.

You want live teaching that meets you where you are with guidance, real-time support, and explanations that help you understand why each step matters.

Meet Your Sewing Instructor

I’m Evon Long, the founder of Sewing to Sow. I began sewing at eight years old through 4-H and later combined my love of sewing with my background as an educator.

After teaching students of all ages in person for more than 20 years, I discovered that beginning sewists often need more than another set of directions. They need someone to explain the language of sewing, demonstrate the skills, and most importantly help them understand why each step matters.

This is how I teach: I don’t simply help you complete one project. I help you develop sewing skills you can continue using long after the workshop ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before joining the Adult Learn to Sew Workshop.

I prefer “Questions Before You Join?” because it feels warmer and less formal.

1. Is this workshop appropriate for a complete beginner?

Yes. This workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as adults returning to sewing after years away. We will begin with learning your sewing machine before moving into foundational skills and your first project.

2. Do I need my own sewing machine?

Yes. You will need a working sewing machine to participate in the workshop. Because sewing machines differ, please have your machine manual nearby. You should also have the power cord, foot pedal, correct bobbins, standard presser foot, and other accessories that came with your machine.

3. Do I need to purchase project supplies?

Yes. Fabric, thread, and other project supplies are not included in the workshop price. You will receive a complete supply list and fabric recommendations before the workshop so you will know exactly what to purchase.

4. What equipment will I need besides a sewing machine?

You will need several basic sewing tools, including fabric scissors, pins or clips, a measuring tool, a marking tool, an iron, and an ironing surface. Don’t worry you will receive a detailed checklist inside the Workshop Preparation Pack, so you won’t have to guess what is needed.

5. How long is each live session?

Each workshop session will last approximately two hours. Because this is a live learning experience, the exact ending time may vary slightly depending on participant questions and the progress of the group.

6. What if I cannot attend every session live?

The workshop is designed to be experienced live, but recordings will be available if life interrupts your schedule. Replay access will remain open through 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on the Friday following the workshop.

7. How will I attend the live sessions?

The workshop will be held online through Zoom. The access link and instructions before the first session. You will need a reliable internet connection and a computer or tablet positioned where you can see the demonstration while sitting at your sewing machine.

8. What happens after Friday’s final session?

You will have the weekend to finish your tote, review the recordings, and collect your questions. We will reconnect on Monday for the live Post-Workshop Coffee & Questions session.

9. What is the cancellation and refund policy?

A full refund is available when cancellation is requested at least seven calendar days before the first day of the workshop.

If you need to cancel fewer than seven days before the workshop begins, your registration payment may be transferred one time to another scheduled Adult Learn to Sew Workshop. If the price of the future workshop is higher, you will be responsible for paying the difference before attending.

Once the workshop begins, registrations are nonrefundable and cannot be transferred. Participants who miss a live session may use the limited-time recordings, which will remain available through 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the Friday following the workshop.

If Sewing to Sow cancels or reschedules a workshop, participants may choose to transfer their registration to another available session or receive a full refund.

P.S.

If you have read to the end of this page and you're considering joining the Adult Learning to Sew Workshop, but feel hesitant. I get it. Every new challenge requires dedicated time and effort. I want you to know that I will guide and support you on this journey, so put your faith in the process, not in the hesitations. Come and join us! I believe learning to sew a single project lasts for a moment, but learning how to sew lasts for a lifetime. Make a great decision and start your sewing journey here because....
